What is Channel steel?
Channel steel is a long steel bar with a concave cross-section and belongs to a type of section steel. Its cross-sectional shape is in the form of a “U”, featuring excellent bending resistance and structural stability. It is widely used in construction, mechanical manufacturing, Bridges and other fields.
Manufacturing Process of Channel steel
- Raw material preparationCarbon steel or low alloy steel is selected as raw materials. Common materials include Q235, Q345, etc. The raw materials are usually steel billets or continuous casting billets.
- HeatingPut the billet into the heating furnace and heat it to 1100-1250℃ to reach the plastic deformation temperature, which is convenient for subsequent rolling.
- RollingMulti-pass rolling through the rolling mill:Rough rolling: Rolling the steel billet into a prototype close to the shape of channel steel.Fine rolling: Further rolling into the target size to ensure that the cross-sectional shape and dimensional accuracy comply with the standards (such as Chinese GB/T 706-2016).
- Cooling and straighteningThe rolled channel steel is cooled by air cooling or water cooling, and then the deformation is eliminated by a straightening machine to ensure its straightness.
- Surface treatment and quality inspectionCarry out surface treatments such as rust removal and painting (if necessary), and check the dimensions, mechanical properties (such as tensile strength and yield strength), and surface quality to ensure compliance with standards.
