What is welded beams?

H – beam, is a structural component widely used in construction2. It is named because its cross – section is in the shape of the English letter “H”1. H – beam is an economical and high – efficiency profile with a more optimized cross – sectional area distribution and a more reasonable strength – to – weight ratio1.

Manufacturing Process of welded beams

• Corte: Before welding the web and flange plates of H Beam, use a leveling machine to level the steel plates. The cutting equipment mainly uses a flame multi – head straight strip cutting machine. Multiple plates are cut at the same time to prevent side bending of the parts after cutting. It is necessary to check the material, specification, and size of the steel plate, and remove rust, oil, and other debris on the surface. After cutting, the oxide scale and sulfur residue on the cutting surface should be removed.
• Assembly: Mark the center line of the flange plate and the positioning line of the web plate. Check the correctness of the flange plate, web number, material, size, and quantity. Assemble the T – shaped flange plate and web plate on the H – shaped steel automatic assembly machine and perform positioning welding, and then assemble the T – shape and the other flange plate to form an H – shape. The joints of the flange plates and the web joints should be staggered by more than 200 mm. The platform and tire frame for assembly should meet the accuracy requirements and have sufficient strength and stiffness.
• Soldadura: Weld the assembled H – shaped steel components. The positioning weld should not have cracks or pores, and it must be performed by welders with corresponding certificates. The welding materials are the same as those for formal welding. When pre – heating is required, the pre – heating temperature should be higher than that for formal welding.
• Correction: After welding, correct the H – shaped steel to ensure that its shape and size meet the design requirements.
